FAQs

Answers to your most pressing questions.

EMS (Electro-Myo-Stimulation) originates from physical therapy. An electrode vest is worn, or electrodes are placed on the body to stimulate the muscles. EMS is a highly effective whole-body workout training program that can achieve a variety of muscular training goals. The combination of voluntary muscle tension and at the same time activating all the major muscle groups creates a completely different stimulus and training is therefore shorter and more intense.

Due to the full body activation and intensity of EMS training, sessions only need to be conducted 1x per week for 20 mins equaling the benefits of 2.5 hours of conventional strength training.

Yes. EMS sessions consist of low impact functional movements and are always conducted by a certified personal trainer. EMS has proven results in people of all ages and fitness ability with numerous published scientific studies to support its efficacy.

Yes, EMS is a medically cleared training program. EMS is a scientifically proven whole body training solution and is FDA CLEARED for exercise and physical medicine (physical therapy and sports rehabilitation).

During an EMS session, the impulses activate over 98% of your muscles simultaneously throughout all major muscle groups. Each muscle reacts with 85 contractions per second – compared to 1-2 contractions per second in one muscle group at a time during traditional strength training.

While whole-body electro-myo-stimulation (WB-EMS) itself shouldn’t be painful, you might experience some discomfort or soreness after a session, similar to what you might feel after a regular workout. We will give you several techniques to recover post training to minimize muscle soreness.

Whole Body EMS activates your body by mimicking signals that the brain sends to the muscles to contract during traditional exercise. The muscles can’t determine whether the signal is coming from the brain or the impulses coming through the miha bodytec device, but either way they contract!

For your initial session, we will provide you with a specially designed base layer top and bottom for your training session. You can also purchase your own set for future trainings. Wear comfortable workout shoes, or you can train barefoot. Finally, don’t forget to bring plenty of water and a towel!

Yes. With four EMS machines Coastal Fit offers the opportunity to workout with a partner or a group.

The speed at which you see results with whole-body EMS (WB-EMS) training depends on several factors, but most people typically see noticeable changes within a few weeks to a couple of months.

Here’s a breakdown of what you might expect:

First few weeks:

Improved muscle activation and endurance: You might feel stronger and more capable during your workouts, even if you haven’t seen significant physical changes yet.

Enhanced muscle tone and definition: Some subtle improvements in muscle definition might be visible, particularly in areas targeted during your sessions.

Around one month:

Noticeable strength gains: You’ll likely feel significantly stronger and be able to lift heavier weights or perform more challenging exercises.

Some body composition changes: Depending on your diet and other lifestyle factors, you might start seeing reductions in body fat and increases in muscle mass.

Beyond one month:

Continued progress: With consistent training, you can expect ongoing improvements in strength, endurance, body composition, and overall fitness.

Within 6-8 sessions you should be noticing real changes with your body. Depending what you are working on with your trainer, that could be increased strength, reduced body fat, additional muscle, better toning, greater stability, or improved endurance. You should also feel more energetic and be sleeping more soundly.

Typically after 16 sessions your improvements should be significant in the form of increased lean muscle formation and body composition changes. EMS Workouts should be done regularly to ensure and maintain optimal results.
